Michael Jordan expected to fetch $200,000 price tag

A 1986 trading card featuring NBA legend Michael Jordan is up for sale with an estimate of $200,000 and up.

With bidding reaching $135,000 a week before the sale, it seems very likely that the card will easily exceed that amount.

Michael Jordan is arguably the greatest basketball player of all time. He was voted the NBA’s Most Valuable Player five times and won six championships with the Chicago Bulls.

The relics of his career are extremely valuable, and he is perhaps the most collected and valuable modern sports star.

This card was released in 1986 by Fleer, an American chewing gum company, which is also one of the largest sports card manufacturers in the United States.

The company produced baseball, American football and, starting in 1986, basketball cards.

This card was #57 in that first offering.

Jordan turned professional in 1984, but 1986 is considered his official rookie card.

During the 1986–87 season, he scored 3,000 points at an average of 37.1 points per game. He became the second player to score that many points in a season.

The beautiful image of Jordan on the card adds to its appeal.

The condition of the card and its beautiful image and historical date make it a must-have for serious collectors. Image courtesy of Heritage Auctions.

This example is particularly valuable because of its condition rating, “PSA Gem Mint 10”.

Heritage Auctions, which is selling the card, says: “This is an essential piece for any serious basketball card collector or fan of the game. The card’s vibrant colors, sharp image and iconic subject matter make it a standout piece in any collection.”

Jordan is one of the most recognizable figures in American popular culture.

It is particularly associated with sneakers. The Air Jordan is one of the most collected sneaker brands.

Jordan’s game-worn shoes are breaking records. Six of the most expensive sneakers sold at auction are Jordan shoes.

The most valuable item was a set called the Dynasty Collection, consisting of eight playoff-worn shoes, which sold for $8 million earlier this year.

Last year, a pair of Air Jordan 13s sold for $2.2 million. Jordan wore them during the 1998 NBA Finals.

His jerseys are just as sought after.

In 2022, his “Last Dance” jersey set a record for a sports jersey of $10.1 million at an auction in New York.

The Jordan card sale will end next weekend, July 12-13.
