(Batesville, IN) – Rain and thunderstorms Thursday morning forced the City of Batesville to cancel the July 4th parade and subsequent activities at Liberty Park.

Organizers say that due to the high possibility of thunderstorms at the time of the parade and based on recommendations from Ripley County Emergency Management, the decision was made to cancel it.

In the meantime, the weather should be nice for the Eureka Band’s first concert of the month tonight at 8 p.m. at Liberty Park in Batesville. The band will play patriotic and American classics.

You are strongly advised to bring your own lawn chair to the concert as seating around the Liberty Park bandstand is limited.

After the concert, you are encouraged to head to Hillcrest Golf and Country Club for the return of its fireworks show.

The event is a collaboration between the city and Hillcrest.

The show will start between 9:30 and 10:00.
