Royal Family Shares Important Message After Key Meeting With King Charles

King Charles’ office shares an important message regarding King Charles’ meeting with Sir Keir Starmer at Buckingham Palace on Friday.

The royal family’s social media accounts shared the photo of the king with the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

The palace also released a statement alongside the photo: “The King today received in audience the Right Honourable Sir Keir Starmer MP and asked him to form a new administration.

“Sir Keir accepted Her Majesty’s offer and was appointed Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury.”

The 75-year-old monarch has invited the Labour leader to become prime minister and form a new government after Labour’s landslide victory in the general election.

Starmer is now due to make his first speech outside Downing Street after his party’s historic victory, which ended 14 years of Conservative rule. Earlier, Rishi Sunak said he would step down as party leader after it was decimated in the election.

Addressing the nation outside 10 Downing Street, he said: “I am sorry,” adding: “I have heard your anger, your disappointment, and I take responsibility for that.”
