Developers forced to build new subdivision at The Ponds in Sydney around Zammit family property

It would take a lot of money for most of us to turn down a whopping £25 million. But for the Zammit family, their beloved home is priceless.

Developers offered the family a life-changing sum to vacate the property so new homes could be built on their nearly five acres of land in Australia.

But while most of their neighbours packed up and sold their homes, the Zammits turned down the massive A$50m (£25m) offer and vowed never to leave their home.

But the construction company did not give up so easily.

In response to the Zammits’ rejection of their proposal, the developers have decided to proceed with their plans to build a new housing estate in The Ponds area, near the town of Quakers Hill.

They obviously had to find a way around the family’s refusal to give up their home, so the contractors opted to simply build their new development. around their pad instead. Touched.

It’s a situation quite similar to that blunder in the middle of the M62 motorway in the UK, without the added inconvenience of thousands of cars speeding past every day.

But the fact that the Zammits are now surrounded by endless rows of houses on either side of them is far from ideal, especially when viewing the new development from an aerial perspective.

Her mother, Diane Zammit, previously told Daily Mail Australia: “It used to be farmland dotted with small red brick houses and cottages.

“Every house was unique and there was so much space, but that’s not the case anymore. It’s not the same anymore.”

This rather impressive property is located just 40 minutes from central Sydney and boasts a 650ft driveway with panoramic views of the Blue Mountains that apparently you can’t put a price on.

It is also believed to include more than five bedrooms, a triple garage and a makeshift basketball court.

Neighbours strongly supported the Zammits after their decision was made public and praised them for not giving in to financial temptation in exchange for giving up their lives on the five-acre property.

One told the Daily Mail: “I’m very pleased they refused to sell – it means we have a cul-de-sac which is much safer for our children – and their large lawn next to us makes us feel like we have plenty of space.

“Our neighbors don’t understand this because the other houses are very close to each other. We are very grateful to them! I hope they stay.”
