‘Is this deliberate?’ ask baffled Coronation Street fans as they spot Gemma Winter’s blunder

CORONATION Street fans were left completely baffled when they spotted a huge mistake involving Gemma Winter.

Dolly-Rose Campbell has been playing the beloved role on the cobbles since October 2014.

However, Coronation Street fans have expressed concerns about the apparent direction of recent storylines.

She has five children – including a set of quadruplets – with her husband, Chesney (Sam Aston).

The duo had to face the cost of living crisis and Gemma felt compelled to steal.

In recent weeks, viewers have seen her daughter, Carys, who was due to go on a school trip, but her shoes were way too small.

While trying on new shoes in a store in town, Gemma knew she couldn’t afford the pair she wanted, so in a spontaneous move she stole them.

However, she was soon consumed with guilt, so Gemma returned the shoes, but was chased out of the store by the manager.

He later filed a complaint after coming face to face with her while his own child – who is friends with Chesney’s son Joseph (William Flanagan) – was at number five.

Gemma was arrested, but her mother, Bernie, convinced her son Kit, a police officer Gemma didn’t know existed at the time, to help her get free.

Despite all the intense storylines, many fans are more distracted by Gemma’s makeup, as they noticed she had an orange face paint that was a very different shade on her neck.

One fan took to social media forum Reddit, and commented: “Why does Gemma have an orange face in every episode? Fake tan is on her face and around her jawline, making her head look like a satsuma.”

To which another fan replied: “I think it’s a deliberate choice for her character not to have perfect makeup,” while a third said: “Yeah, it must be on purpose because if you look at the actress who plays her, she looks completely different.”

“It’s been like this since I started watching at least – it’s driving me crazy – I just want to attack him with a foundation match and a blending sponge,” wrote a third viewer.

Meanwhile, a fourth said: “Whoever did her makeup should be fired.”

And another viewer added: “It’s probably just to make him look chavvy. He’s a bit like a diamond in the rough.”

On X – formerly known as Twitter – fans echoed the sentiment, with one writing: “The producers’ real crime is allowing Gemma’s horrible facial tan to persist. Make it stop.”

As someone else added: “I really wish they would stop putting makeup and tan on Gemma. It’s absolutely impossible to care about the character in a serious story with her appearance like that.”
