Waco Police Announce New Deputy Chief | KWKT

WACO, Texas (FOX 44) – The Waco Police Department has announced its new deputy chief!

Jared Wallace has been with the city of Waco since 1991. The department says his primary focus has been working, developing and leading community-oriented and problem-oriented policing units.


Wallace has served in a variety of capacities including patrol officer, housing and bicycle patrol officer, SWAT operator and neighborhood police officer. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant in October 1999 and led teams of officers in the Neighborhood Policing Unit, SAFE Unit and SWAT Team.

The department says Wallace was promoted to commander in March 2021. During his tenure as commander, he led the Criminal Investigations Division and the Community Services Division. The Community Services Division focused on leading the Waco Police Department’s efforts to continue to build community trust and legitimacy through relationship policing, problem-solving and community partnerships.

Wallace has received several awards over the years, including the Medal of Valor, the Life Saving Award and the Supervisor of the Year Award. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Leadership from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Wallace was promoted to deputy chief of police in early July and now leads the investigative command. At his promotion ceremony, his badge was pinned on by his eldest son, U.S. Marine Corps Master Sergeant Hunter Wallace.
