Family of Hartwell murder victim offers reward on anniversary of his death

CINCINNATI (WXIX) — The family of Alan Holcomb is offering a reward to help solve his murder one year after he was killed.

Holcomb’s family is offering $2,500 for information leading to the person who killed him after he and his mother returned from a fireworks display on July 4.

Police say Holcomb was shot and killed around 8 p.m. on July 5, 2023. A year later, no suspects have been found in his case, which has taken a toll on his family, including Kisha Ivory, his aunt.

“Are they ever going to find out who did this?” Ivory asked. “Some days I get angry. I want to go out and try to find out who did this myself because I feel like it’s not happening fast enough.”

Holcomb’s cousin, Leah McKinney, said the lack of closure was distressing.

“There’s no solution,” McKinney said. “There’s no answer. It’s like it was last year.”

Holcomb’s mother dropped him off at their apartment after watching the fireworks at Ault Park. She went to get some food and went home. She noticed he wasn’t on the first floor and assumed he had gone to sleep in the basement.

The next morning, Holcomb’s mother came outside and noticed the police tape and saw that he was not in his room.

“The only thing he has left of him is objects, things…material things,” McKinney said. “Losing his only child? I can’t imagine.”

McKinney said she feels like someone knows what happened to her cousin. She hopes someone will come forward so her family can have peace.

“I’m sure someone knows something,” McKinney said. “I’m just begging them to come forward.”

The $2,500 reward offered by the family is in addition to a $2,500 reward being offered by CrimeStoppers for information in the Holcomb case. Anyone with information should call 513-352-3040.
