Check out the adoptable animals for the week of July 6 on NorthJersey.com!

Each week, NorthJersey.com wants to highlight adoptable animals from local shelters and rescues.

If you foster, work or volunteer at a northern New Jersey animal shelter or rescue and know of animals in need of a loving forever home, please send a photo, description and adoption information to [email protected] to have your adoptable animals featured in the next issue.

This week we feature Chester and Ruby from Rosemarie’s Rescue Ranch in Verona.

Chester

Chester, 6, is a terrier who was taken from AHS Newark four years ago in search of a new Foster2Adopt or forever family.

He has a ridiculous lower jaw and is a comedian who enjoys long walks and the outdoors. He has a love/hate relationship with some dogs, but loves other dogs deeply.

He is unstable and suffers from PTSD. If you startle him while he is sleeping it will terrify him, but he will calm down once he is alert. According to his profile on the Rosemarie’s Rescue Ranch website, something must have happened to him before he landed in a high-risk kill shelter here in New Jersey. Despite everything he has been through, Chester loves to be close to you and snuggle up to you.

If you are interested in Chester, you can apply to adopt him at https://rosemariesrescueranch.com/dog-adoption/.

In the Considerations section, under “Application Notes,” please tell the ranch about yourself to help them get a sense of you and your family, and how you would be a good fit for the pet you are interested in.

Northern New Jersey Pets: These animals we featured as adoptable pets each week in New Jersey have found homes

Big Eared Ruby

Ruby, also known as Ruby Big Ears, is an American Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix who has not received any applications since arriving at Rosemarie’s Rescue Ranch.

He is a cuddly lap dog in a dog’s body who will crawl into your lap on the couch and fall asleep. However, he is also an energetic dog who will easily swim 25 laps around the pool and jump up and down like he is on a trampoline just to see what the neighborhood kids are laughing at. He would need a fence that is at least 6 or 7 feet high.

“If I didn’t already have a full house, she would never leave me. Ever!” says Susan Janett, president and co-founder of Rosemarie’s Rescue Ranch.

This adorable puppy deserves a chance at a family of his own.

She is an active, friendly, lively girl who loves to greet you with kisses. She has a silly personality that often causes zoomies. She loves to run and chase balls, so an active family would be ideal. She loves dogs and would make a perfect hiking companion.

If you are interested in Ruby, you can apply to adopt her at https://rosemariesrescueranch.com/dog-adoption/.

In the Considerations section, under “Application Notes,” please tell the ranch about yourself to help them get a sense of you and your family, and how you would be a good fit for the pet you are interested in.
