Joshua Zirkzee ready to spurn Arsenal to join Manchester United

Joshua Zirkzee is reportedly set to snub Arsenal as he seeks to join Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from Caught Offside, Joshua Zirkzee is reportedly the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Bologna forward, who has a release clause worth £34 million in his contract with the Serie A club, is also a target for Arsenal. However, the Dutch forward is set to spurn the north London club as he is keen to join the Red Devils in the summer transfer window.

The Rapid Rise of Joshua Zirkzee

Joshua Zirkzee has been one of the best young players in Serie A since joining Bologna from Bayern Munich in August 2022. The Dutchman struggled to get going at the Allianz Arena and finally found a stable footing in his career during his time at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium.

Although the 23-year-old hasn’t been very productive, he has still impressed in the 2023/24 season. Zirkzee contributed 19 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions last season, finding the back of the net 12 times and providing seven assists.

Meanwhile, Joshua Zirkzee’s progress at Bologna FC has not gone unnoticed, attracting the attention of several top clubs across Europe. A move to the Premier League could be on the cards, with Arsenal and Manchester United reportedly vying for his signature as the summer transfer window approaches. In the meantime, the Dutch forward will cost around £34 million due to a release clause in his contract.

Premier League transfer in sight?

Manchester United’s interest in Joshua Zirkzee is understandable. The Red Devils have been combing the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window after losing Anthony Martial as a free agent. Zirkzee has therefore emerged as a viable target for Manchester United, with the Dutchman set to join Old Trafford.

On the Arsenal side, the Gunners are keen to sign a striker after Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah failed to make their mark in the 2023/24 season. However, Arsenal will be unable to secure the services of Joshua Zirkzee, with the Dutchman keen to join Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

The £34m fee should not be a problem for Manchester United. As for Arsenal, the Gunners must look to other options for a striker, with Zirkzee having snubbed the north London club.
