PM shocked by death of chess grandmaster Ziaur Rahman

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday expressed shock and sadness over the death of the country’s renowned grandmaster Ziaur Rahman.

She prayed for the eternal salvation of the deceased’s soul and expressed her sympathy to the bereaved family, according to the Prime Minister’s press service.

Ziaur Rahman died while playing the 12th round match of the ongoing National Chess Championship 2024 in the capital on Friday afternoon.

Born on May 1, 1974, Ziaur became Grand Master in 2002.
