Monroe officials, first responders offering free swimming lessons in July

MONROE, La. (KNOE) – The Monroe Police Department and Fire Department are partnering to offer free swimming lessons to the community in July.

Every Monday there will be free swimming lessons at the Johnson Community Center and Marbles Community Center.

MPD will be hosting swim lessons at the Marbles Community Center at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. The last Monday in July (July 29) will be set aside for senior swimming safety through the MPD Senior Program.

MFD will hold classes at the Johnson Community Center at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. every Monday of the month.

Paid private lessons will be available by contacting the lifeguards at each center.

There are 12 places per lesson and you can register at either community center.
