Cody Rhodes Reveals Message to Late Father Dusty Rhodes After WrestleMania 40 Win

After defeating WWE Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes reveals the message he sent to his late father, Dusty Rhodes.

On the second night of WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes finally completed his story by defeating Roman Reigns to become the undisputed WWE Champion. In doing so, he became the first member of the Rhodes family to win WWE’s top prize. He accomplished something that neither his father, Dusty Rhodes, nor his brother, Dustin Rhodes, had been able to do. It was certainly an emotional moment for the entire Rhodes family, the WWE roster, and the fans.

After scoring the three count, Rhodes looked up at the sky and spoke to Dusty. On “The Pivot Podcast,” Cody revealed what he said. “At Mania, I had a brief moment where I looked up and said, ‘Sorry it took me so long,’” Rhodes said. “I think I had a billion other things planned to say, but that’s really how I felt. Like, ‘Hey, this is really cool. Your widow, she’s in the ring. My mom. Your family is taken care of. Generationally, we’re in a good place, but sorry it took this long.’”
