Possible thunderstorms lead to cancellation of Movies Under the Stars event

FLINT, MI – A series of rain and thunderstorms forecast for Friday night has led organizers to cancel the first Movies Under the Stars event of 2024 in Flint.

“Communities First, Inc. is postponing its Movies Under the Stars event tonight, July 5, due to weather conditions,” said a press release issued Friday afternoon by the nonprofit organization that organizes the event.

“Events are typically held outdoors at Flint City Hall, but forecasts of rain and thunderstorms require the event to be canceled tonight and rescheduled,” the press release said.

A new date for Friday’s cancelled event is expected to be announced soon.

Separate tornado warnings were issued by the National Weather Service Friday afternoon in Huron and Clare counties, but no tornadoes have been confirmed in either area.
