After Arkham TV Series Cancellation, Fans Are All Making the Same Prediction About Batman: Part 2

More than two years have passed since The Batman The series premiered in 2022 to showcase what Robert Pattinson brings to the role of the caped crusader. While the sequel isn’t scheduled to release for another two years, fans who have been following Max have reason to be excited about the expansion of this Batman’s universe on the small screen. The Penguin A television series is expected to premiere in fall 2024, and an Arkham Asylum series was in the works. Unfortunately, the Arkham series will no longer take place in Max, which has caused many fans to be similarly concerned about the next Batman movie.

Arkham Asylum Cancelled

The news that the Arkham Asylum series will not be moving forward comes from Variety, which reports that the version of the series directed by Antonio Campos (known for The staircase And The fisherman) is no longer in development. The project would have been set in the same cinematic universe as The Batman. While another Arkham-set project is not ruled out, the anticipated incarnation will ultimately not happen. You can cross this project off the list of upcoming Batman movies and TV series.

The show was initially announced in July 2020, and subsequent revelations about it as it evolved led to speculation that it would be similar to Fox’s. Gothamalthough probably a lot less ridiculous than the end of that series. Now, fans who have been eagerly awaiting the continuation of The Batman are visibly feeling even more anxious (or at least pessimistic) about the idea of this film actually happening.

What Fans Predict for Batman: Part II

After the success of The Batman In 2022, it seemed inevitable that a sequel starring Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight and Andy Serkis as Alfred would happen, but most of the recent news hasn’t been good. Last March, the planned release date was pushed back from October 2025 to October 2026 following the WGA writers’ strike and the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike.

Colin Farrell The Penguin was still on the horizon, but there was more bad news from Andy Serkis in June when he shared that he knew nothing about the film other than that filming is set to begin in early 2025. The comments would have been encouraging, if not for the fact that the man playing Alfred knows nothing about the film!

Overall, it’s hard to blame fans for seeing the news of the Arkham Asylum series ending and assuming the worst about it. Batman: Part IIMany of them took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to vent, and the comments below seem to be a consensus:

Overall, I think it’s safe to say that fans need a positive update on The Batman sequel as soon as possible in light of the news that the TV series will not be moving forward. It seems unlikely to me that the movie will be canceled with the stakes as high as they are and fans as eager as ever, but it’s hard to say for sure in the entertainment industry these days.
