Tunisia announces presidential election schedule

TUNIS, July 5 (Xinhua) — Tunisia’s Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) has announced the schedule for the upcoming presidential election, scheduled for Oct. 6, Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) news agency reported Friday.

According to TAP, the ISIE will announce the final list of presidential candidates on September 3. The election campaign will begin on September 14 and end on October 4. The final results of the presidential election will be announced no later than November 9.

Tunisia holds a presidential election every five years. The country’s current president, Kais Saied, was elected in 2019. Saied has not yet announced whether he will run in the next election.
