I caught my neighbor stealing my Ring Cam. What can I do?

A man (@bbright96) shared how he caught his neighbor stealing his DoorDash with his Ring camera. In a viral 14-part TikTok series, he suggests the incident ended in police intervention and eviction.

The series has over 16 million total views.

In the video’s captions, the TikTok creator writes that despite arriving with food 20 minutes early, the neighbor stole his Sonic.

He also wrote that the neighbor denied doing this and that they threatened to kill him.

The creator later shared security footage of himself and his roommate confronting their neighbors for the first time that night. In the video, several people come out of the apartment and yell at them.

Police involved in Ring camera drama

In the next TikTok, Ring camera footage shows two police officers showing up at the neighbor’s door.

“There will most likely be a warrant out for your arrest for theft,” a police officer said through the neighbor’s door.

In a later video, a sheriff arrives at the neighbor’s door again.

TikTok creator @bbright96 says the apartment rental manager called his neighbor to ask for her side of the story in a follow-up video.

“They told the rental office it was their food and their name was on it and we had similar names,” he said.

He also says the rental office said the woman who stole his food is not listed on the lease.

In several TikToks, people come out of their neighbor’s apartment and turn off the TikTok creator’s Ring camera or comment on his videos.

“Apparently they tell all their guests about TikToks,” he wrote in a caption. “Since they’re still doing this, I’m going to keep doing this.”

In one of the latest TikToks, a woman sticks a letter on her neighbor’s door, which some commenters suspect is an eviction notice.

Throughout the series, commenters supported the TikTok creator.

“The expulsion because of Sonic is crazy,” wrote one viewer.

“It eased all the anger I had every time my food was stolen,” another commented.

In a May 2024 Casino survey, 22% of 3,000 respondents said people had stolen their food deliveries; 43% of respondents said they installed Ring security cameras to prevent food delivery and package theft.

“I’m so glad you made it this far,” one commenter said.

“I bet they would have preferred to leave this meal alone,” someone wrote.

“This is why integrity is important,” said another viewer.
