Deadpool and Wolverine villain inspired by Willy Wonka

Deadpool and Wolverine villain inspired by Willy Wonka

In all fairness, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, released in 1971, is relatively horrific, and Willy is the orchestrator of these horrors. He lets horrible things happen to people looking for an heir to his chocolate empire. That said, he gives plenty of warnings to children and parents, but they simply choose to ignore them. More chaotic, perhaps? It’s a matter of perspective, it seems. In any case, this performance is in stark contrast to Timothée Chalamet’s in Wonka, for example.

Speaking more broadly about the film, Corrin discussed the challenge of appearing in a Marvel movie at a time when the superhero genre seems to be in decline. However, the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and, more importantly, the genius of Ryan Reynolds make things different, they say.

“There’s a lot of pressure, but I think it’s the right choice at the right time. Because it’s Deadpool, and Deadpool has always broken the rules, right? That’s why Ryan (Reynolds) is such a genius.”

Corrin also revealed that director Shawn Levy shot the film on real sets rather than going overboard with a green screen. The actor called the film “the biggest and best playground in the world,” before adding, “When the genre has been incredibly safe, and right now it’s struggling, people come along and blow it up again.”

The film’s cast also includes Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni and Matthew Macfadyen. Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and Zeb Wells wrote the screenplay alongside Levy and Reynolds.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” will be released in theaters on July 26, 2024.
