John Cena Announces Retirement, WWE Farewell Tour in 2025

Wrestling fans around the world received some unexpected news this weekend when John Cenaone of WWEOne of WWE’s most iconic characters, Cena has announced that he will be retiring in 2025. Cena made the announcement during a surprise appearance on WWE Money in the bank event in Toronto, where the crowd responded with deafening chants of “Thank you Cena!”

In his speech, Cena expressed his excitement for the future, especially WWE’s historic move. “Raw is going to make history next year when it’s coming to Netflix. I’ve never been on Raw on Netflix. It’s history, it’s a first, and I’ll be there,” Cena said, hinting at his participation in the show’s debut on the streaming platform in January 2025.

A farewell tour for John Cena

At the press conference following the event, Cena gave more details about his final year in WWE. He confirmed that his retirement would see him competing in some of WWE’s biggest events.

“THE Royal Rumble 2025 will be my last. The Elimination Chamber 2025 will be my last. And I’m here tonight to announce that in Las Vegas, WrestleMania 2025 This will be the last WrestleMania I will attend,” he said, describing his last appearances in the ring.

Cena revealed that he will have a busy schedule leading up to his retirement and that he will not go down without a fight, confirming that he is in negotiations for “a long list of dates” starting in January 2025, estimating around “30-40” events. Despite the rigorous schedule, Cena stressed his commitment to making his farewell tour a memorable one for his fans.

Responding to speculation that often surrounds retirements in the wrestling world, Cena made it clear that his decision is final. “People say they’re leaving, and two years later they come back. I want to make it clear right now, I’m done. It’s over.” Cena said.

He invited fans to join him for his remaining performances, promising to give them an unforgettable experience: “If you have always wanted to participate in this last edition, we will make it as big as possible and we will fight against everyone. We hope you will come and have fun.”

When asked Vince McMahonFormer WWE CEO who resigned in January amid sexual assault allegations, Cena chose not to comment directly. Instead, he expressed confidence in the current leadership. “WWE is in good hands” he said, referring to the company’s new parent company, TKO Group Holdings.

Although Cena is retiring from wrestling, he assured fans that he will remain involved with WWE. He mentioned an agreement to stay connected with the WWE family “in some capacity” for an “extended period of time to come,” ensuring his continued presence in the world of professional wrestling.
