UAB men's soccer team announces 2024 roster

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The UAB men’s soccer program announced its 2024 schedule Wednesday as it enters its first season under head coach David Lilly.

The Blazers will play three exhibition games before hosting two-time national champion North Carolina to open the regular season on Aug. 22. They will also host Georgia State on Aug. 27 and Northern Kentucky on Sept. 1 at PNC Field.

UAB will open American Athletic Conference play against Florida Atlantic in Birmingham on Sept. 21. The Green and White will hit the road for a non-conference game against Louisville on Sept. 24.

“We are excited to announce our 2024 schedule,” Lilly said in a statement. “We look forward to playing a challenging non-conference schedule to help prepare us for the challenges ahead in the AAC.”

Lilly comes to the Magic City after spending the last two seasons in the same position at East Tennessee State. The Buccaneers finished first in the Southern Conference last season. They led the conference with 1.47 goals per game and .755 goals against, the latter ranking 10th nationally.

UAB posted an overall record of 0-11-4 and 0-7-1 against conference opponents in 2023. The 2024 slate marks the third season the men’s soccer program will compete in the AAC.
