You’ll love the Chanel-inspired sandals we found on the high streets

It’s not quite summer yet, but that doesn’t mean we’re not shopping for some sun-soaked fun. And, with that in mind, if you’ve been eyeing Chanel’s much-loved chunky sandals but don’t have the funds to invest in them just yet, we have some good news.

The “ugly shoe” trend was born in 2015 when Balenciaga released its Triple S chunky sneakers. No sooner had the cult sneaker taken over our Instagram feeds than Chanel released its own version of the “dad shoe.”

Over the years, this sandal has truly outdone all the “ugly” predecessors that came before it. It’s stylish, comfortable, and surprisingly versatile. Don’t believe us? Check out the many high-low style options below:

If you like this model, major retailers have similar models starting at under £50, and Dune is top of the wish list.

Dune was actually the first high-street retailer to create Chanel-inspired sandals, back in May 2020. The brand’s iteration has the same blue quilted denim and double-strap upper as the designer style beloved by Pernille Teisbaek, but the logo emblem has been swapped for a cool silver padlock.

We also love Chanel’s take on silver sandals, or if you’re feeling particularly jazzy, opt for the bold leopard print. Both styles will be perfect for summer evenings.

Kurt Geiger’s sandals are another Chanel-inspired style. The shoe brand has created a seriously sturdy shoe here: the platform and molded insole add inches without causing blisters, while the padded leather straps and velcro fastenings only add to the comfort.

The cheapest Chanel-inspired pair we’ve found, at just £40.00, is available from River Island. With their double strap, monogrammed gold hardware and quilted faux leather, they’ll look great teamed with your favourite jeans and a white tee.
