Arsenal Linked Player Sends Heartfelt Message to Bukayo Saka

This weekend at EURO 2024, Bukayo Saka saved his country with an iconic goal, a left-footed pass and curling shot into the far corner. That late goal reduced England’s deficit to one goal and sent them to penalties. Then, in a poetic coming-of-age moment, Bukayo Saka stepped up to the penalty spot and slotted home his penalty, one of five perfect goals for England.

It was a particularly positive moment for Arsenal fans, who have supported Saka like no one else. Saka’s last penalty at the Euros was saved to prevent England from potentially winning the final against Italy, so it was particularly pleasing to see him rise to the occasion and take the penalty, capping his redemption journey.

In the EURO 2020 final, Bukayo Saka wasn’t the only one to miss his penalty. In fact, many forget that Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho also showed courage and failed to convert it in that penalty shootout.

It was a particularly difficult moment for Arsenal fans as it could have dented Bukayo Saka’s confidence for the rest of his career. However, since that moment, Saka has steadily improved. He has achieved world-class status since then and this was epitomised by saving his country not once, but twice.

In a sincere message sent to Bukayo Saka on social networksJadon Sancho has alluded to the penalty he also missed in the EURO 2020 final and said he was “very proud” of Saka for converting it in the 2024 quarter-final. He then added a nice touch by saying “(Saka) did it for me and Marcus (Rashford)”.

Regardless of what one thinks of Jadon Sancho, this is an incredibly nice message to receive. It shows solidarity between the three players who have been bullied not only by England fans in 2021, but also by the English media.

Jadon Sancho has recently been linked with a move to Arsenal. However, Arsenal have rejected the opportunity to sign him. Sancho is looking to leave Manchester United this summer, which is understandable given his falling out with Erik ten Hag, who recently extended his tenure as Manchester United manager.
