Entrance fee only $2 for all ages.

SUKANEN SHIP PIONEER VILLAGE — July is the perfect time for summer fun and Sukanen Ship Pioneer Village has plenty to do for Family Day.

The sixth family day, on Sunday July 21, will offer a day at the museum village with many special activities.

Members of the Moose Jaw Dog Club will be putting their dogs through their paces for the third consecutive year, an event that packs the stands.

Featured are dogs that have won awards at major shows as well as dogs that are just beginning to learn jumping and running techniques.

Kennel club members say they enjoy the two Family Day shows as much as the big competitive events because the local shows allow them to showcase the dogs’ skills.

Face painting will be provided by the Guides.

Young people can ride on a saddle horse and let themselves be taken for a ride.

Museum members will offer tractor and fire truck rides in the North Field from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day ends at 4 p.m.

Younger children can try their hand at making giant bubbles in the morning.

A few miniature horses are expected at Family Day.

One of the best things about Family Day is the price. Admission is just $2 per person for all ages.

Ice cream cones, popcorn and pastries are only 25 cents.

A full dealership is available with affordable prices for the family.

Last year, when 1,550 people attended (twice as many as the previous year), the stand ran out of food.

Steps have been taken this year to ensure that the food concession is not exhausted.

Launched in 2017 to mark Canada’s 150th birthday, Low Cost Family Day was held outside of the COVID-19 lockdown to thank the community for supporting the museum.

The buildings and exhibitions will be open all day.
