165-room property to open in Pennsylvania in summer 2019

A 165-room Cartoon Network hotel will open in summer 2019 on a nine-acre property in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Custom-built for a family-owned business and designed to maximize on-screen entertainment, the hotel is positioned to be a vibrant upgrade to an adjacent property: Dutch Wonderland amusement park, which already features three dozen rides, attractions and shows.

The hotel project is the result of a recent partnership between Turner subsidiary Cartoon Network and Palace Entertainment, which owns and operates Dutch Wonderland and 20 other theme parks, water parks and family entertainment centers in the United States and Australia. The agreement with Cartoon Network marks Palace’s first partnership with an international hospitality brand.

The hotel will represent “the best family-friendly lodging experience in central Pennsylvania” and “immerse guests in the animation and antics of the characters” made famous by Cartoon Network.

Characters and images from shows like Adventure time, We support bears, The Powerpuff Girls, Steven Universe, We Bare Bears, The Amazing World of Gumball And Ben 10 will inform design elements and echo programming throughout the venue. The hotel’s pitch promises guests will be able to “enjoy bacon pancakes made by Jake from Adventure time” and will be tempted to “Let Ice Bear make you a latte.”

The rooms and suites will feature “interchangeable show themes that can be customized to children’s preferences to make each visit a new adventure.”

The hotel will feature an outdoor amphitheater (which will be the site of world premieres of new animated films) and a resort-style pool and water play area where kids can splash around under the watchful eye of Gunter the lifeguard penguin. Summercamp Island will be a space for campfire gatherings and lawn game competitions. Indoor amenities include an indoor pool, indoor game room, children’s play area, coffee lounge, wine bar and Cartoon Network store.

“With the right blend of technology, design and animation, we want to bring our characters to life in a whole new way,” said Christina Miller, brand president, Cartoon Network-Adult Swim-Boomerang. “We look forward to being a part of many family vacations with the ultimate Cartoon Network experience.”

Construction of the hotel is underway.

“This will be a real game changer,” said Rolf Paegert, COO of Palace Entertainment. “With contemporary, stylish designs that parents will appreciate and Easter egg surprises for kids throughout the resort, the whole family will love this place. Cartoon Network’s stories and themes will appeal to everyone in a fun and whimsical way.”
