One dead after shooting at car rally on Steelyard Drive

Cleveland police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning.

Around 4:15 a.m., police responded to the 3300 block of Steelyard Drive for a report of a 21-year-old man who had been shot, police said.

The 21-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Preliminary investigation suggests he was shot while driving to a rally, police said.

Across the country, car rallies are popping up. One took place in Cleveland in May, outside Playhouse Square.

Over Memorial Day weekend, numerous cars were spotted drifting, racing and creating donuts in several neighborhoods, including downtown and Ohio City. Video shows an individual lighting a fire near Playhouse Square.
