Corvettes for Sale: 1962 Corvette Stored Since 1973 Offered on Craigslist

Every day it seems there is another vintage Corvette coming out of long-term hibernation, ready to get back on the road and stretch its legs.

Today’s example is a 1962 convertible that’s been in storage since 1973. Now, the owner is offering this customized Corvette on Craigslist out of Queens, New York with an asking price of $45,000 though he candidly says in the listing that “cash talks.”

Some of the first things to catch a prospective new owner’s eyes are the six taillights instead of the usual four and the ’67-style hood on the opposite end.

The black paint still looks decent enough in the photos, though a closer examination in person might prove otherwise. The car comes with a hardtop only, so if you want the flexibility of a ragtop, you’ll have to install a new one.

Inside, a section of the lower dash is missing, and we also noticed a big split in the passenger seat bottom.

The custom touches continue under the hood, too, where a four-bolt main bearing 383 engine with Scat steel crankshaft, X rods, forged flat top pistons, Crane hydraulic cam, Dart heads with hardened seats, and Holley 750 carburetor has been installed, along with a replacement T-10 four-speed manual transmission, a new 411 rear end, a new radiator, and new front disc brakes with dual master cylinder.

In case you would prefer the factory setup, however, the seller says he still has the original 327 block, radiator, brakes, and transmission, though it’s not clear if those are included in the asking price or would be an extra expense.
