Bring the Drama fans think Silent Witness could have found a new star

What did you miss?

BBC reality show Bring the Drama offered another major TV series tie-in this week, as contestants visited the set of Silent Witness – and viewers thought one of them was good enough to join the regular cast.

The competition, hosted by Bill Bailey, sees eight aspiring actors looking to break into the industry tasked with acting out scenes from well-known shows for a real-life casting director each week.

In the second episode, the actors tried to prove their talent with a scene from the pathology drama Silent Witness, and one contestant stood out to viewers as being good enough to join Dr. Nikki Alexander’s team.

What, how and why?

Bring the Drama’s eight aspiring actors faced another daunting set visit this week, as they were sent to film a scene for Silent Witness where they had to convincingly deliver complicated medical dialogue.

It was a treat for viewers who are fans of the long-running BBC drama series, as they got a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of series star Emilia Fox as pathologist Dr Nikki Alexander.

One viewer commented to X: “@EmiliaFox someone is in your office – watching BBC 2 Bring the Drama!”

The episode saw all the contestants vie for the lead role on Fox, with Jordan and Rehanna chosen to be the Doctor in two competing casting calls – and as far as viewers are concerned, Silent Witness may have just found a new star.

One viewer commented: “Rehanna looks very natural!”

Someone else added: “Rehanna as Dr Alexander from Silent Witness in Bring The Drama, she’s good.”

Another fan wrote: “Rehanna should have been Actress of the Week. She was fantastic. I totally believed her.”

But while not all of the actors were as comfortable in the medical scenes, one viewer thought they might have found the perfect role for George, commenting: “George needs to play Gregg Wallace in a biopic.”

Will we come back for more?

Bring the Drama has been praised by viewers for its revealing look at the film industry and the struggles of making it as a television star.

Last week, the cast lifted the lid on just how much work goes into creating soaps with a visit to EastEnders, and future episodes promise to include more of the BBC’s most popular shows – all under the daunting judgement of casting director Kelly Valentine-Hendry.

One viewer commented: “I’ve absolutely loved #BringTheDrama these past two weeks! Not just for its promotion of access in the industry, but also for its entertainment factor – these people, their approaches and reactions to rejections are already such an interesting show!”

Another enthusiastic fan wrote: “Need a Doctor Who week.”

Bring the Drama airs on BBC Two at 9pm on Wednesdays.
