French elections: exit poll predicts surprise victory for left-wing alliance – video | France

The New Popular Front (NFP) is expected to win the most seats in the second round of the French legislative elections, leading pollsters announced on July 7, putting it on track for an unexpected victory over the far-right National Rally (RN) but short of an absolute majority. An Elabe poll for BFM TV predicted 175 to 205 seats for the NFP, while an Opinionway poll for C News TV predicted it would win 180 to 210 seats. Both polls put President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist bloc narrowly ahead of Marine Le Pen’s RN in second place. An absolute majority in the National Assembly, the lower house of the French parliament, requires 289 seats.
