Deva Cassell says she has been “inspired by the fashion world” since childhood.

The “Beautiful Summer” star, who is the daughter of screen siren Monica Bellucci, 59, and actor Vincent Cassell, 57, along with her sister Leonie, 14, believe “visionary” trends can piece together “a narrative of human history” through self-expression.

The 19-year-old actress told Numero magazine: “The world of fashion has inspired me since I was little, because I always thought it was important to externalize your ideas. Through fashion, which is often visionary, we can build a narrative of human history.”

Deva, whose parents divorced in 2013 after 14 years of marriage, also enthused that Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chirui means a lot to her because of the way she “blends influences” from her Italian and French background.

The fashion house ambassador said: “I have immense respect for Dior and the unique heritage of the brand. Maria Grazia Chiuri mixes French and Italian influences, and all of this speaks to me because I belong to both cultures.”

Deva urged people to “wake up” to the environmental disasters currently unfolding in the ocean and beyond, amid the looming climate crisis.

She added: “What really worries my generation is the future of the planet’s marine ecosystems. Everyone knows that human activity is causing pollution in the oceans and that plastic swallowed by fish ends up on our plates. Recent studies have revealed the presence of microplastics in the human body. We need to become aware of the impact we have on the planet, and quickly, because the way we live our daily lives affects the future of our world.”

The brunette also expressed frustration at having to “fight so hard” against gender-based violence and gender discrimination.

Deva said: “The fight against violence against women and children. It is a subject that is close to my heart. It is completely anachronistic that we still have to fight so hard today for fundamental and basic rights.”
