Private Investigator Says Replying “STOP” To Unsubscribe From Text Messages Could Compromise Your Location » TwistedSifter

We all get those annoying text messages from companies and politicians, don’t we?

Maybe we even signed up for them at one point to get a discount, but now they just keep coming and we don’t care about the product anymore.

It still says you can reply with STOP to “unsubscribe,” but according to private investigator @therealpinklady, you might want to think twice before hitting send.

Because answering STOP could very well put you in a sticky situation, and could even give you access to private information on your phone!

“This could be a scam, (but) this is also how (private investigators) manage to spy on cell phones,” Lisa said in her video.

She added: “We can’t do like the cops. However, when you respond to the text message, it means you are giving your permission to give your location.”

In a follow-up clip, she added: “Your position is absolutely accessible to people who shouldn’t be.”

I guess you have to be careful if you don’t know where a message is coming from and the BLOCK option might be your friend!
