Shooting caught on camera | Business owner fed up with shootings in area • Unfiltered with Kiran

BATON ROUGE — Another shooting in the downtown area has infuriated a local business owner. A volley of gunfire erupted in the 3000 block of N. Boulevard, rocking the night and leaving residents on edge.

According to CCTV, several shots were fired shortly after midnight on June 27, 2024, in what has been described as a “brazen display of violence.”

“This car drives down the highway, pulls into the driveway in front of our office, turns off the lights, drives off and pulls out onto the road. Three people get out and open fire with automatic weapons and drop the car,” said the business owner, who asked not to be named.

One person was taken to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. The severity of their injuries is unknown at this time. Authorities have not yet confirmed any arrests or suspects in connection with the shooting.

The owner of the company says UWK This crime is not new to this area. In fact, he shared photos of the damage done to his business from previous shootings.

“I have bullet holes in my building from previous shootings,” he said.

This particular shooting was caught on his store’s CCTV and the owner says UWK that Baton Rouge police have this video.

“You always have to watch your back. You have to keep an eye on everything,” he said. “I mean, our cameras have captured more than you can imagine.”

He said residents in the neighborhood are increasingly concerned about the escalating violence in their neighborhood. “It’s shocking,” he said. “I mow my lawn all the time. Do I want to carry a gun when I want to mow my lawn? Because you never know.”

The business owner owns two properties in the area and has been in business for over 20 years. He is now thinking seriously about what the future holds.

“We’ve been in business for 22 years, and it’s hard to say I would leave my hometown because of this kind of bullshit. I just don’t know,” he tells us.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear at this time.
