A former Mormon has detailed her fascinating theory on why so many church members become influencers.

Alyssa Grenfell, 31, grew up in the confines of an ultra-strict household, but escaped the strict lifestyle and began focusing on reclaiming her body in her late 20s after moving from Utah to New York in 2017.

The former member of the Mormon Church has since shared stories about her transformation and journey to freedom.

Recently, Alyssa took to YouTube to reveal her shocking insight into why church members are becoming social media sensations — including Taylor Frankie Paul, Rachel Parcell, and Hannah Neeleman.

She explained that she believed the church, also known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was “sponsoring influencers through trips and meals” — adding that the organization was “funneling money around the term Mormon.”

Alyssa Grenfell, 31, grew up in the confines of an ultra-strict household, but escaped the strict lifestyle and began focusing on reclaiming her body.

In a clip titled “Why Are There So Many Mormon Influencers,” Alyssa shed light on her theory.

She first addressed the most common explanation, that Mormons like to keep journals.

“One of the most common reasons for this phenomenon is that Mormon girls like to journal,” Alyssa said.

She explained that most Mormon women tend to look the same, adding that they represent the ideal woman.

“It’s made up of white, blonde women,” she added.

Alyssa noted that she has a different theory about why so many members have become social media stars.

“I don’t think it’s because Mormons are good at keeping diaries, I think it’s because they’re supported by a church that has been able to invest millions of dollars in them,” she said.

“This is how the Mormon Church pays Utah influencers and how the Church pays them without them even realizing where the money is coming from.

Recently, Alyssa took to YouTube to reveal her shocking insight into why church members have become social media sensations.
She said she believed the church was pouring money into the Mormon search term and helping sponsor these influencers.

“The Church funds influencers with trips and meals, not money. This helps prevent them from leaving the Church and speaking badly about it.”

“They fly influencers to private events, pay for flights, hotel rooms and food. So they fund their expenses, but they don’t get financially reimbursed for the content they post.”

She claimed the church didn’t want people to know it was sponsoring these influencers because current members would be angry that their money was going to social media icons.

“The church needs to figure out how to get money to these influencers without creating a public relations nightmare,” Alyssa said.

The former member revealed that she believed the church was using targeted advertising and paying money to Google to help support influencers in a discreet manner.

“I believe the organization is funneling money around the term Mormon,” she said.

“The Church pays Google money to make sure you see an ad about the Mormon Church.

“The cost per click for the term Mormon is $24.71. On the other hand, the term Mormon missionary costs $31.81.”

However, Alyssa has not provided any evidence that the Mormon Church pays for ads, and it should be noted that anyone can pay for a Google ad.

Alyssa revealed that through these targeted ads, Utah influencers were earning twice as much money as social media stars based in New York and Los Angeles.

She said the goal of the church was to attract more people to it.

By increasing awareness through advertisements, it helps increase the number of people who come to church.

Alyssa revealed that this is why the church has not shied away from supporting corrupt Mormon influencers who have faced scandal, like Taylor, who made headlines after reportedly flying into a rage and being arrested for throwing a chair at her boyfriend.

In her clip, the former Mormon claimed that while Taylor may not be the ideal member of the Church, he still draws people toward her.

She said at the end of the clip: “Although Taylor Frankie Paul is not the ‘perfect Mormon’ that the Church wants to portray, they are still doing well because she generates a lot of ad revenue that Google AdSense will target to find new converts.

“By making the Church known, they know people are more likely to join.”

DailyMail.com has contacted The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Taylor for comment.
