Terntank increases orders for methanol and wind energy tankers to five

Tanker owner Terntank has added another new battery hybrid model, set to run on methanol and wind power, at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard, bringing its order book at the Yangzhou yard to five.

In March, the company returned to China Merchants Jinling for its fourth 15,000 dwt unit and secured an option for an additional newbuild, which was recently exercised.

Designed by Kongsberg, the first ship in the series is under construction and will be delivered in March 2025, with the fifth expected in July 2027. All ships will also be powered by diesel and biofuels.

Based on the Swedish island of Donsö, now operating from Skagen in Denmark, Terntank currently operates around ten modern chemical and product tankers ranging from 10,000 to 15,000 dwt and with an average age of six years.
