If you have ever imagined yourself in one of the National treasure movies, trying to find treasures while preserving priceless historical artifacts, you can make that dream come true this weekend at the Westfield Century City mall in Santa Monica, California. To celebrate the new Disney+ series National Treasure: At the Edge of History, The streamer and PEOPLE magazine have teamed up to host a free escape room experience that will baffle even the most advanced problem solvers.

Inspired by the upcoming series (set to premiere on Disney+ on December 14), The Room is a 20-minute adventure featuring puzzling puzzles, coded locks, hidden cards with key clues, and tricky artifacts meant to throw you off your game, all while trying to recover an ancient relic.

And if you think being a die-hard fan or having an “in” helps solve the mystery, think again. Even the stars of the new series — including Lisette Olivera, Lyndon Smith, Jordan Rodrigues, Jake Austin Walker and Antonio Cipriano, who joined me to kick off the experiment Saturday morning — found themselves stumped by some of the clues.

“I realize I’m not as good at solving puzzles as[her character]Jess Valenzuela,” series heroine Lisette Olivera (above) tells PEOPLE after playing the game. “The puzzles in the game are very similar to the ones in the show. And so are all the books on the wall.”

And all of this only makes the overall escape room experience even more thrilling. “It’s amazing to be back here and fully experiencing and anticipation of the show coming out,” she said. “Seeing that they’ve recreated the world that we lived in is (so much fun) and there’s nothing like being here with my castmates and trying to officially solve this problem.”

As a PEOPLE editor, I was able to join the team in solving the clues and escaping the room. Lyndon and I started by solving two of the puzzles you have to complete to advance to the next level, which allowed us to obtain the first tablet.

The other cast members worked together to get the second tablet, which was quite difficult to find considering the prop we needed to unlock the second lock was right in front of us. The six of us then combined all the clues we had gathered up to that point to try to get the third and final tablet… and just as we had figured it out, the fire alarm went off and we had to be escorted back outside! (But hey, that counts as an escape, right?)

National Treasure: At the Edge of History was filmed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. While original star Nicolas Cage is not featured in Season 1, the show’s new talent is just as well equipped to solve the mysteries of the ancient world.

In addition to the cast members who were in the escape room on Saturday, the show also features actors Zuri Reed, Breeda Wool and Dustin Ingram, as well as Catherine Zeta-Jones, who will be on hand to help the team find clues. Original stars Harvey Keitel and Justin Bartha are also reprising their roles as Peter Sadusky and Riley Poole, respectively.
