South African ceramicist’s cat sculptures inspired latest Dior show

Kim Jones, the English fashion designer and artistic director of Dior Homme and Fendi Womenswear, unveiled the Dior Homme Summer 2025 collection on June 21, 2024 at the Val-de-Grâce in Paris. Dotted with six massive reproductions of Hylton Nel’s feline works, the show featured a multitude of pieces also inspired by his work. Hylton Nel is a conceptual artist, as described in his website biography. Born in Zambia and raised in the Northern Cape, the 83-year-old potter currently lives and works in the small town of Calitzdorp.
