Comedian Rob Delaney Admits He Wants To Die In The Same Room His Son Died In

Comedian Rob Delaney has said he wants to die in the same room where his son died.

THE Disaster The actor and his wife, Leah, tragically lost their two-year-old son, Henry, in January 2018 after two years of treatment for a brain tumor.

During an appearance on Radio 4 Desert Island Discshe revealed that Henry died in the same room where his last son was born.

Delaney has since said he asked the owner of the property where Henry died to let him know if he ever sold it so he could buy it from him.

Recalling the conversation with his landlord, Delaney said: “Listen, if you’re ever going to sell this place, let me know first because I’d like to buy it.

“So when I’m 81, I can crawl in here and die. In the same room where my son died, in which my other son was born.”

Before Henry died, Delaney and his wife explained to him that they were expecting another child.

THE Deadpool 2 The star continued: “He had to know that this family that loved him was alive and growing and that there was someone we were going to tell about him.

“We knew they would not overlap bodily on this Earth, even though Henry’s younger brother was born in the same room where Henry died, our living room.”

Delaney, 47, shared that he and Leah had considered leaving London, but decided to stay in the capital because of memories of their son.

“For many reasons we stayed, one being that I like to go and put my hands on the slides in the playground that Henry went down,” he said, adding that he sometimes bumped into the nurses who looked after Henry and praised the NHS for looking after him so well.

Delaney previously discussed Henry’s diagnosis and death in his 2022 book, A working heart.

Delaney said Henry was diagnosed with a brain tumour after his first birthday and although the tumour was removed, the cancer unfortunately returned.

Recounting Henry’s final days, the actor wrote: “I lay in bed with him, and Leah held him and danced with him. His brothers read him stories and played with him.

“There were only five of us in the house. Five people who loved each other and needed each other. Henry opened his eyes and looked Leah in the eyes around five in the morning. Then he died.”

Delaney continued: “I’m so glad Henry died at home. I’m so glad he did so in the arms of his beautiful mother, who loved him desperately.

“I’m so glad he lay down between us after that and we got to kiss him, hold him, and stroke his beautiful, long, sandy blonde hair.”
