IHC dismisses appeal against cancellation of PTI public meeting permit

ISLAMABAD (Parliament Timings): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has dismissed the contempt of court plea against the cancellation of PTI’s public meeting permit.

Justice Babar Sattar remarked that we have to take decisions as per law. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) issued an order. The Chief Commissioner (CC) set it aside. You have to file the petition against the CC order. Justice Babar Sattar made these remarks during the hearing of the contempt of court plea on Monday. Justice Babar Sattar remarked that if the Commissioner Islamabad has stayed the order, you will have to challenge the order. Shoaib Shaheen said, “Let us give them punishment. Their connivance must be made public.”

Justice Babar Sattar observed that you will challenge the order and then the technicality of the order will be determined. I cannot initiate contempt of court proceedings on this petition. He further asked: tell me on which order should I initiate contempt of court proceedings. Do what you can do as a lawyer. In the previous meeting, DC Islamabad allowed a public meeting to be held. The Chief Commissioner suspended it. The court dismissed the PTI petition.

Justice Babar Sattar remarked, “Challenge the order of the chief commissioner, which you have not done. Advocate Shoaib Shaheen argued that we will file an interim petition again. These people have bad intentions and are not allowing us to do anything.

Judge Babar Sattar noted that we must decide according to the law. The District of Columbia issued an order and the Chief Commissioner overturned it. You must now file a motion challenging the Chief Commissioner’s order.

Justice Babar Sattar remarked: “You do this every day. Political issues will not change the procedure. It is worth mentioning that the PTI had approached the IHC against the suspension of the NOC for holding a public meeting on July 6.
