Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice ‘caught in the middle of deep discord within the royal family’

Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice have found themselves “on friendly terms” with both sides of a “deep public family rift”, a royal commentator has claimed.

The sisters have shown signs of “solidarity” with King Charles and Prince William since Prince Harry’s departure, according to Richard Fitzwilliams.

The duo have also increased their public engagements following the health problems of King Charles and Princess Kate.

Eugenie and Beatrice both attended William’s first garden party of 2024 without Kate – who is undergoing cancer treatment – in a “show of solidarity with the heir to the throne who is currently not on good terms with his errant brother”.

However, Eugenie is known to be a favorite cousin of Prince Harry and appeared in his hit Netflix documentary in 2022.

There has also been speculation that the Duke of Sussex visited Eugenie at her home in the Algarve, Portugal, in September last year.

“It is perfectly possible to be involved in a deep, public family dispute and be on good terms with everyone involved,” Fitzwilliams told the MailOnline.

“Princess Eugenie, who with her husband Jack Brooksbank resides mainly in the Algarve, had Harry and Meghan as visitors.

“They got on well over the years, and she and her husband Jack Brooksbank resided at Frogmore Cottage for a time while the Sussexes were in California before being evicted.”

The royal sisters have also shown their support for William and the monarch, despite the rift between the Sussex and Wales families.

“She posted on Instagram that she was ‘excited to support my family’, those are very meaningful words right now,” Fitzwilliams added.

The royal expert said the depth of the rift between King Charles and Harry was exposed when he and his father failed to meet during his last visit.

Fitzwilliams concludes: “It would be beneficial for everyone if this problem were resolved.

“But in the meantime, Beatrice and Eugenie, who could conceivably act as intermediaries, are undoubtedly supportive of William and are likely to give him their full support if the Sussexes launch further attacks on the royal family.”

Another royal insider suggested that Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall “want to support Prince William and King Charles’ unique circumstances” and are “closer than most cousins”.
