Airbnb Host’s Bizarre Message About ‘Kevin’ Shocks Guests Before Entertaining Them With Hilarious Twist

While traveling to a new place is an exciting experience in itself, some people come back with unique and interesting stories about their visits. Especially in the case of those who choose Airbnb for their stay, they have the chance to encounter different types of hosts: unfriendly, overly friendly, or sometimes hilarious. Palmer Ward, known as @decentbirthday on X, a creative coordinator and writer known for sharing funny posts, had such a strange and funny experience with his Airbnb host. In his 2019 post, Ward shared the text exchange with his Airbnb host, which was terrifying at first, but then took a hilarious turn.

The Airbnb host wanted to warn their guest about a potential intruder. “I apologize in advance, but Kevin might try to sleep with you. Just keep your door closed,” the text read. Anyone receiving this type of message would surely be creeped out by Kevin, just like Ward. “Excuse me, what?” they replied to the host. The host then clarified that Kevin was their dog, so they wanted to warn their guest about the possibility of him intruding. “My Airbnb owner has a dog named Kevin. His human-sounding name terrified me at first,” Ward wrote in the caption. Many comments were amused by the hilarious twist, and some pet parents with dogs named Kevin could relate to this perspective.

“Your next response, ‘Yeah, you probably should have started with the last part,’” @NoNoNolanHughes said. “That went from horrible to unexpected pretty quickly,” @xtorol joked. “That’s exactly how I felt when my neighbor told me Karen would also need to be monitored when she was away. And I was like, ‘Why can’t Karen take care of herself?!’ Karen is an obese cat,” @vellichor97 added. “The Airbnb owner knew exactly what he was doing,” @BenAylett joked.

Speaking of fun Airbnb experiences, one American Airbnb host has an 8-year-old cat as a guide. The cat named Cinamen is known for leading guests on hikes along the Appalachian Trail. Sebastian Cocioba (@ATinyGreenCell) shared on X about the four-legged companion’s guided tours during his stay on the Appalachian Trail. “I went with my partner upstate and the Airbnb host’s cat took us on a guided hike along the Appalachian Trail. Apparently she does this with every guest,” X’s post read. “She would complain when we took a wrong turn off the trail and knew the way back. Amazing cat. It would be an apocalypse with her,” Cocioba added.

Cinamen’s pet owner Trisha Mulligan provided a gentle and exciting experience for her guests with the feline’s guided hikes. It turns out that Cinamen had a great experience guiding guests on the right path because he knew the trail well, Backpacker reports. “I call him the concierge because he loves people. You know, every color has a different personality. And there’s something about an orange cat that’s very social, and we have a very social cat,” Mulligan said. Growing up as an outdoor cat, Cinamen often spent time with Mulligan in the woods, so he knew how to help guests not get lost during their hikes.
