U.S. food safety regulators have issued a reminder on Friday of more than 2,000 pounds of ready-to-eat frozen chicken that may be contaminated with listeria.

The chicken was distributed by Al-Safa US LLC, located in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said.

Here are the recalled chicken products

  • 12.1 oz carton package with “Al Safa Halal Charcoal Grilled Chicken Seekh Kebab Grilled, Minced, Chicken Patty Kebab” and “NOV 30 25” and “0605404” printed on the package.
  • 14.11 oz carton package with “Al Safa Halal Fully Cooked Chicken Chapli Kebab Seasoned Chicken Patty” and “NOV 30 25” and “0605416” printed on the package.

The FSIS said the products in question had establishment number “866.” They were shipped nationwide.

Possible Listeria contamination was discovered during routine testing. No cases of Listeria contamination have been reported to date.

Listeria is particularly dangerous in the elderly, people with compromised immune systems, pregnant women and young children. It can cause fever, aches, stiff neck, headaches and stomach problems.

The announcement follows a national reminder In June, 13 different brands of ice cream that the government feared were potentially infected with listeria.
