Yarmouth teens arrested for cocaine trafficking after Portland traffic stop

Two Yarmouth teens are facing drug charges after they were found in possession of a large quantity of cocaine during a traffic stop in Portland, police said Monday.

According to Portland police, the traffic stop occurred just after midnight Monday when the vehicle in question made an illegal U-turn.

During the stop, police found that one of the occupants of the vehicle, Cole Swan, 18, of Yarmouth, was violating his bail conditions.

Swan was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, unlawful possession of cocaine and violation of conditions of release, and is being held without bail at the Cumberland County Jail.

Swan was previously arrested in April after a foot chase in downtown Portland, when police said he was found in possession of crack cocaine and a loaded handgun.

A second occupant of the vehicle, a 16-year-old male, also from Yarmouth, was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking in controlled drugs and unlawful possession of cocaine.

The young man was taken to the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.

As a result of the traffic stop, police seized 62 grams of cocaine base (crack), 8.17 grams of cocaine hydrochloride, $1,550 in cash, a digital scale and a loaded handgun.
