Great American Family star Jesse Hutch is getting into the Christmas spirit a little early, sharing what the holiday means to him.

“For me, the spirit of Christmas is really about believing in Jesus Christ and the Scriptures,” he said in a video posted to GAF’s Instagram account. “During the holiday season, in our family, it’s just another reason for us to focus not on ourselves, but on each other.”

He continued: “I think Christmas always reminds us to help those around us and not always focus on yourself and separate your family from everyone else. Always make time for others.”

The Teddy Award®-nominated actor stars in A CHRISTMAS BLESSING, which is re-airing as part of Great American Family’s Christmas in July event, as well as other holiday films, such as LET IT SNOW, CHRISTMAS IN TOYLAND and B&B MERRY.

Hutch has previously spoken about his commitment to being part of family-friendly, moral content.

“There are no surprises,” the actor said of the romantic comedies he usually stars in. “My kids can just walk into these movies at any time. And we’re not going to have this crazy, deep conversation about something we’re not ready for yet.”

This belief led Hutch to abandon auditions and be turned down for role offers after making his feelings clear.

“There are, of course, projects that really go above and beyond,” he explained. “And none of that interests me. There have been a few times when I’ve asked myself, ‘Would my career have gone in a different direction?’ Absolutely. Do I regret it? No.”

Movieguide® has previously discussed Hutch’s love of making Christmas movies:

A CHRISTMAS BLESSING stars Jesse Hutch and James Tupper spoke to Movieguide® about why they love Christmas movies and creating uplifting entertainment.

“It’s the most fun,” Hutch said of starring in Christmas movies. “To be in something that my kids and my family and my grandma can watch, it’s fantastic.”

“I really like the idea that… if you can make a Christmas movie every year, I mean, it’s going to keep coming back. And that’s kind of cool. It’s like a fashion trend, except it comes back a lot more often,” he told Movieguide®.

Hutch shared his thoughts on the recent success of moral content in Hollywood with the Washington Times, saying, “I think there’s this message of hope that’s circulating in film and television, and people are picking up on it and seeing it and witnessing it.”

“There are definitely people who are creating inspiring content, and I think it’s surprising that it does well, that it sells movie tickets, that it brings people to the theater,” he continued. “You have these in-person conversations with people, and I’m blown away by how grateful people are literally for a movie that brings hope, joy, laughter into their world. And so I can’t deny that it’s something that I have to listen to.”
