Special Ranger-Guided Tour of Historic Civil War Homes Offered by Shiloh National Military Park

According to the U.S. Department of the Interior’s National Park Service, history buffs and curious explorers are invited to join Ranger Laura Lee for a unique journey into Corinth’s past with the special Ranger-led program, “Under Siege and Battle: A Historic Homes Civil War Tour.” Scheduled for Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., the event promises to uncover the Civil War stories embedded in historic homes and sites in downtown Corinth, Mississippi.

Participants will embark on a walking tour that will take them through places where historic homes, both existing and gone, have witnessed the ravages of war. Ranger Laura Lee will illuminate the stories of the families who built and lived in these homes, as well as the military officers who used them during the Civil War. The tour will focus on the exteriors of the buildings, providing a vivid portrait of life during this pivotal time in American history.

The hike, which will run from 10:00 a.m. to noon, will begin at the Corinth Civil War Interpretation Center. It will cover approximately two miles of moderate terrain and urban sidewalks. Participants are advised to dress appropriately for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. For comfort and preparation, insect repellent, sunscreen, and plenty of water are recommended.
