AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin-Bergstrom International Airport reported a small number of flight cancellations Monday, hours after Beryl landed on the Texas coast early in the morning.

Beryl has since weakened to a tropical storm as it moves north of Houston. Parts of eastern and central Texas have seen heavy rain and strong winds, while the greater Austin metropolitan area has remained largely unscathed, with the exception of a few small areas of moderate showers and wind.

The AUS had 290 scheduled departures Monday. Of those, a spokesman confirmed that 10 had been canceled Monday morning; the majority of them were departures to the Houston area, the spokesman said.

According to aviation database FlightAware, there have been 21 flight cancellations to AUS in the past 24 hours, as of 1:15 p.m. Nationally, there were just over 2,100 cancellations on Monday, with a large concentration of those due to Beryl.

Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport had 585 flight cancellations Monday, an 88 percent cancellation rate. Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport came in second with 163 cancellations, an 80 percent cancellation rate. Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport came in third with 39 cancellations and a 3 percent cancellation rate.
