Disney and Developer/Publisher GungHo Online Entertainment have announced a new mobile RPG video game with 8-bit inspired graphics titled “Disney Pixel RPG” that will be released on September 9.

“Disney Pixel RPG” is a “free to play” game that features 8-bit pixel art style versions of popular Disney characters including Mickey Mouse, Maleficent, Ariel, Winnie The Pooh and more.

The game will feature a story about several of Disney’s isolated worlds merging after being attacked by “strange programs,” throwing all the characters into a state of confusion. The player will embark on a quest across multiple different game worlds to “restore order.”

The game’s combat promises to feature fast paced strategic battles, which can be played using a simple control system and an auto-play function.

While the game is free to download, it will feature “in game purchases,” otherwise known as “microtransactions.” No further details on the cost of these in-game purchases or what will be available for purchase have been released at this time.
