City of Groveland Announces Curbside Composting Program in Partnership with Black Earth Compost

For immediate release

GROVELAND — The City of Groveland announces that a curbside composting program will begin next week in partnership with Black Earth Compost.

The program will begin on Wednesday, July 24, and aims to promote residential composting and help reduce urban waste by reducing the volume of food scraps entering the waste stream.

Black Earth Compost will be collecting bins on Wednesdays. Residents can sign up for weekly collection services for $114.99 every six months, or bi-weekly collection services for $89.99 every six months. Residents who sign up for the program will receive a voucher for a free bag of high-quality compost.

The goal of the program is to take food waste from residents and businesses, which makes up nearly 40 percent of our waste stream, and recycle those nutrients into high-quality compost to grow more food.

Residents interested in enrolling in the program can register here.
