Martha Stewart has addressed trolls who hated one of her newly decorated Maine living rooms that she modernized with yellow furniture and large bird portraits, reports say. Well.

Stewart showed off her look on Instagram last week.

“We replaced the living room’s gray-blue upholstery with a pale, buttery yellow cream,” she wrote, noting that she loved “the rustic yet elegant charm of this lovely 1925 home.”

However, one detractor wrote: “Imagine living in a place where there are no family photos, nothing personal, a lack of color, a tired fireplace, blankets that no one uses. It looks exactly like how my husband’s mother-in-law lived in her penthouse in Naples. She would be 105 years old. Sorry, Martha… You need color.”

Another commenter was even more blunt: “Yuck. Looks like the living room of a 1987 Marriott suite.”

In light of the negative comments, Stewart, 82, wrote on Instagram Thursday, “I rarely read every comment that comes in after I post, but because I was so happy with the transformation of my Maine living room, I went through many of the comments and was surprised at how harshly judged many were!!! My Maine helpers and I spent three hours moving the old furniture and installing the new furniture. We were thrilled to see that the pieces actually fit the room and were proportionate to the large size of the space.”

The celebrity chef and design guru said the idea was to change the style of the space “quickly and efficiently” and that professionals were not involved and the update was far from complete.

“Making a house, home or room a beautiful living space takes way more than three hours,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Of course there will be color, plants, mirrors, a new rug or two and other art and objects. Stay tuned!!!”

And if you were wondering about those birds, Stewart clarified: “And, by the way, the birds are chromolithographs by Carroll Tyson known as the ‘6Audubon of Maine’ — so beautiful!”
