Families search for new homes after early morning fire at Abilene apartment complex

ABILENE, Texas — Several families are looking for new homes after an Abilene apartment complex caught fire.

The complex is located in the 1700 block of N. 6th Street, in the Spanish Arms Apartments.

The Abilene Fire Department said it received the call shortly after 3 a.m. Monday.

When crews arrived, they saw a two-story apartment building with heavy smoke and flames in the front and back of the building.

The fire spread to the attic and the roof was completely engulfed in flames.

Several apartments were affected and the American Red Cross was contacted to assist those affected.

Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this stage.
