“Don’t get eaten! Unless you want to be.”

Jeff Goldblum sent Scarlett Johansson a surprise live on television by officially welcoming her into the “Jurassic” family while she was interviewed on “Today.” Johansson, who stars in the new “Jurassic World“, was on NBC’s morning news show to promote her romantic comedy “Fly Me to the Moon” when a video Goldblum had personally recorded for her was aired.

Goldblum starred as Dr. Ian Malcolm in Steven Spielberg’s original “Jurassic Park” film in 1994 and reprised the character in three more sequels, including 2022’s “Jurassic World Dominion.”

“Dr. Johansson, this is Jeff Goldblum. This is what I want to tell you. I know one thing: Scarlett will find a way,” he said, referencing the franchise’s famous line “Life always finds a way.” “Don’t get eaten, unless you want to be. I love you.”

The video ends with Goldblum blowing Johansson a kiss. The two actors previously starred together in Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid City.” Goldblum is not expected to appear in the new “Jurassic World” film, which is being directed by “Rogue One” and “Godzilla” director Gareth Edwards from a script written by David KoeppThe screenwriter returns to the dinosaur franchise after writing “Jurassic Park” (1993) and “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” (1997).

“Oh my God, I can’t believe Jeff said that to me,” Johansson said. “I think my life is over now. I can retire.”

The new “Jurassic World” film is an entirely new story, separate from the first “Jurassic World” trilogy starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. The three “Jurassic World” films have each grossed more than $1 billion at the global box office. Johansson stars in the new film alongside Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise and David Iacono. The film is currently in production in Thailand.

Johansson told ComicBook.com last month that “the script is so incredible” for the fourth “Jurassic World” film.

“I’m a huge Jurassic Park fan,” Johansson said. “It’s one of the first movies I remember seeing in the theater. I remember it so well. It changed my life and blew my mind. I can’t express how excited I am.”

“David Koepp wrote it and came back after 30 years to write it and he’s so passionate about it,” Johansson added. “I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in every way possible for over 10 years. I was like, ‘I’m going to die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by anything! I’ll do craft service!’ I’ll do anything for it. The fact that it happened that way at that time is just incredible.”

The new “Jurassic World” film is scheduled to be released on July 2, 2025, by Universal.
