Wow, The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus Looks Set To Play Daryl Dixon For Much Longer Than Expected, But With One Condition

AMC’s Zombie Universe Continues to Live on Through Multiple Upcoming Films Walking Dead TV shows, about two years after the flagship series ended. With the fan-favorite spin-off TWD: Daryl DixonNorman Reedus is set to reprise his role as the titular hunter for its second season. While it’s hard for fans to say how long the series could last, Reedus is actually set to continue playing Daryl for quite some time, and I’m pleasantly surprised.

Playing the same character for a long period of time can be tiring, which can lead to stars leaving successful shows to pursue less time-consuming projects. That doesn’t seem to be the case with Reedus at this point, however. While I expected Reedus to move on to other projects beforeDaryl Dixonand I wouldn’t have been shocked if he ended up becoming one of the The Walking DeadAmong the most heartbreaking deaths in , his French excursion added new life to that franchise, and as long as the “new” side of things is maintained, he has no intention of straying from a role he’s been playing since 2010. He had this to say to Mr. Feelgood when asked to put a number on it:

I think I might wait another six or seven years. The Daryl Dixon spinoff gave me an opportunity to take the show in a different direction than the original show. I didn’t want to do the same show in a different place. I wanted to reinvent it. And they let me, along with other like-minded people, invent something new. So it feels new to me. It’s in a different language. It’s shot in a different way. It’s not really a zombie story, and who’s going to get bitten this week, it’s completely different. So as long as I keep reinventing it, it’s fun.

It’s great that Reedus wants to continue playing Daryl for what could be a total of two decades, and it makes sense that he’d want to do something different each time, if possible. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon especially focusing on Daryl being in France and why as he tries to get home, it’s in different territory from the original series and it’s already exciting to watch.

That being said, the number of separate stories they’ll still be able to come up with is another hurdle. It seems that Walking Dead The universe has no trouble creating new shows beyond the original series, but there’s only so much you can say without straining. It also helps that the Daryl Dixon The cast is mostly made up of new faces. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon The series just aired last year, the second season will air this fall on the 2024 TV schedule, and there’s always the possibility that the series will last for a while, so you never know what might happen.

At least Norman Reedus was able to take on other roles during filming. So he’s staying very busy and making sure things go well outside of the post-apocalypse, so hopefully that will help him think outside the box to stay with Daryl for as many years as he can. Until then, some exciting new stories, of course.

Even though Reedus has been toying with the idea of playing Daryl Dixon for years, he has said many times in his career that you never know what might happen in the future. Hopefully, he will continue to play Daryl for as long as he can or at least until Daryl’s story feels like it is wrapped up. For now, fans can continue watching the show whenever The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 2 will air on AMC on September 29.
