Megan Stalter Cast as Lena Dunham-Inspired Character: What You Need to Know

Lena Dunham prepares to tell his life story in Netflix series Too muchbut she will not play there, enlisting Tips star Megan Stalter to headline the upcoming series.

“Physically, I just wasn’t ready to have my body dissected again,” said Dunham, 38. The New Yorker in a July profile, referring to the widespread criticism that followed his Girls fame. “It was a tough choice, not to choose Meg—because I knew I wanted her—but to admit it. I thought winning meant just continuing to do what you want and not caring what anyone else thinks. I forgot that winning is just protecting yourself and doing what it takes to keep doing work.”

In Too much, Stalter, 33, will play a 30-something American woman who moves to London and then falls in love with a British musician (played by Will Sharpe). The series is loosely based on Dunham’s real life. Girls The designer, for her part, got married Luis Felber in 2021 after moving to the UK three years earlier.

“I knew from the beginning that I wouldn’t be the star of the film. First of all, because I had seen Meg Stalter’s work and she had inspired me a lot,” Dunham told New Yorker. “She’s incredible, I think people are going to be blown away. We know how funny she is. But when she gets into a dramatic scene, you’re like, ‘Oh, we’ve got a little bit of Meryl Streep on our hands!'”
